The FAST XDi Sportsman Distributors were designed to deliver the most accurate trigger signal possible throughout the entire RPM range of your race engine. This is accomplished through the use of an advanced Hall-effect style pickup which is then converted to a signal that most CD ignition controls accept. The benefit of a Hall-effect pickup is there is no retard, commonly called magnetic pickup compensation, so you can ensure your timing remains stable from idle to race RPM. Inside the CNC-machined billet housing is a polished stainless steel shaft that is supported with sealed ball bearing on the top and a long bushing on the bottom. FAST also has gone through great strides to reduce end play in the distributor to take out any timing variations and damage to the gear. Each distributor is supplied with a high-quality rotor and distributor cap. A FAST Ignition Control (E6 or E7 series) must be used. Note that there is no mechanical advance, the timing is locked out. XDi Sportsman Distributors are available with a large diameter Ford style cap or smaller diameter GM points size cap with HEI terminals.
This XDi Distributor works excellently as a distributor in a race application where accuracy is of the utmost importance. Thanks to its hall-effect design pickup, the accuracy exceeds any IPU pickup by preventing any magnetic compensation.
